Welcome!

This is a blog that we use to post news on our translation of "Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love". For those who don't know, it is a sequel to Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Rupeeland was released in English, but Balloon Trip of Love wasn't.

This is an unofficial fan project. We are in no way affiliated with Nintendo or Vanpool, and are doing this completely for free.

Looking Back on a Year of Tingle

Happy new year to all of you Tingle fans out there! 2018 has been a crazy ride for many individuals and the world as a whole, but the constant guardian-angel-like presence of Tingle has enveloped us all in its protection.

It’s been a year since the release of our English fan translation of Ripening Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love, and we’ve had a lot of response and lovely interaction with the green dude’s fans as a result. On this occasion, I’d like to take a minute to point out some of the cool stuff that went on lately.

The man of the hour

Fans Comment

Right after the release of the translation patch 1.0 on December 31st 2017, dozens of fans picked up the game, played it and left many nice comments right here on the blog. Our thanks go out to everyone who took the time to post something, and especially the ones who went above and beyond, finding typos and mistakes in the translation – leading to the release of a much improved patch version 1.1 soon after!

Let’s Plays

Probably the most fun thing to come out of Tingle’s new adventure are the many let’s plays people started to create immediately after the translation was released. Here’s a short list of those that I personally enjoyed.

That was just a short selection of the dozens of let’s plays out there. If you feel like I’ve missed a noteworthy entry, drop me a line and I’ll add it to the list.

Miscellaneous Head Scratchers

The fan translation is mentioned on TLBT’s entry on tv tropes. What the huh?

Apparently, at one point Vanpool was working on a horror game starring Tingle. It was cancelled „due to a variety of reasons“.

Hope you enjoyed this short but sweet selection of Tingle nuggets. If you’ve got more to add, just let us know, and maybe we’ll do a follow-up article featuring all the cool stuff we’ve missed.

Don’t be strangers, leave your comments, and most importantly, have an awesome 2019!

  1. This blog has been fantastic! Thank you so much for the 1.1 patch, it allowed me to play through a game I thought I would never be capable of playing. That's truly something special. The collection of videos look great, and I will check some of them out!

I wonder if there will be any Tingle games in the future, or if they died with the DS. What a run, though. I recently got my hands on physical copies of all three games (not the DSiWare one, though has anyone tried that out using no$gba?).

I was wondering, are there any plans for a 1.2 patch? There were just a couple *very* small things I found untranslated, but I'm pretty sure they were already mentioned by others. It's not a huge deal, as the game was 100% playable and enjoyable. Thank you so much!

    1. Hi - I'm glad you enjoyed the game and our translation patch!

Sorry I'm a bit late replying, but yes there are plans for another patch. It should be out in the near-ish future, mostly dependent on how many bugs are found in testing.

The Tingle Pack DSiWare does work in no$gba, but only in a specific version that is hard to find, and even then it's kind of glitchy and one of the minigames crashes the whole game. But I'll upload it to the blog when I get the chance in case you or anyone else wants to check it out

  2. Hi there; Tingle Translation Team! Thanks for your hard work on translating the game; I've recently decided to try and collect the Tingle DS Trilogy, but I have a couple of questions:

    1. Is there an English version of the games' boxart?
    2. I've seen a few reproduction carts online for the fan translation, but honestly I have no way of knowing if they have the old glitches from before the V1.1 patch you folks put out. If I did get a reproduction cart, how would I go about patching it or seeing if it is the patched version? I'm quite new to this.

Thanks for your time, and your Tingle.

  5. Hello! I'm a bit late to the party here hehe. Is there a way to contact any of you translation members? I have some inquiries about translation projects and the like.

  6. Thanks for all the hard work Tingle Team! I finished the game a week ago or so, such a great game! I did find some untranslated things, but I may have been playing the first version. Showing items to Granpa on the farm in the World Thereafter results in untranslated text.

Other than that, will you finish Tingle's Balloon Trip?
Did you, or will you, translate the manual for the game?

    Thanks a bunch!

    1. Looks great my dude, I'm just wondering if those are the right fonts to use for a DS game... They seem a little off.

    2. I believe the fonts for the legal text should be correct. As for other fonts, I tried to use something that was similar in design to the original Japanese font.

    3. Well, the font you used for the "Ripened" in the title stands out. If you notice the font used on the logo at this site, its different and actually looks better in my opinion.
Other than that, you seem to have used the same font on the text blurbs. They look a bit too...neutral.
