Welcome!

This is a blog that we use to post news on our translation of "Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love". For those who don't know, it is a sequel to Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Rupeeland was released in English, but Balloon Trip of Love wasn't.

This is an unofficial fan project. We are in no way affiliated with Nintendo or Vanpool, and are doing this completely for free.

  2. Well done! Would be good to put it up on RHDN, so that more people would see it - at least the project page, since I assume that patch won't fit in terms of upload. Thank you for your amazing effort. One more down. :)

    1. Yeah, I submitted it there as well :)

It just has to be approved by a mod first, I believe

  3. I posted this on the Zelda reddit so hopefully it blows up. You should go edit the Wikipedia and Zeldapedia entry for this game to show there's finally a completed fan translation. Should get you a bunch of traffic over time!

By the way, is there anyway your team could make a translated cover art as well? I use them with OpenEmu so each game has a picture. You'd have to download a hq version of the Japanese cover art and get someone who knows how to edit images to make it look like it was released in North America.

Thanks for all the hard work. Congrats!

  5. Has anyone had luck? I patched my own and it is still in Japanese.

Sad. I sat and tried to throw my wallet through the screen to support this for years.

If I'm mistaken then I am just dumb at this.

    Either way, nice work.

    1. What patching tool are you using and what OS are you on?

    2. This should now be fixed with the new CRC patch.

    3. Windows 8.1 and using the tool you linked in the release post. The CRC patch fixed my issue. Thank you so much!

  9. Thank you so much for all your effort. I am looking forward to playing this game on my NDSi!

I have spent hours trying to figure out how to play the "TLBT v1.0.xdelta" on my DSi with flashcard (M3ZERO). I need it to be ".NDS", right? I tried the xdelta UI program (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/) like you suggested, but I just really don't know what I am doing... Can someone please help me with this?

  11. Thank you guys immensely, i am playing right now and this has got to be one of my fave games.
    1) do you guys have a paypal or something ? i'd love to give you a few bucks and for others to be able, too, because you deserve it for your hard work. (i really hope that's legal, because it's not like selling right ?)
2° i saw two bugs : one concerning muriki and the tree to knock over where her text continues past the screen, and one where japanese appears when you ask lion to use super strength on an orange palm tree near iona's seed shop.
thank you thank you thank you, long live tingle !!!

  12. Great work! Weird that I randomly get into the Tingle series just now.

  13. Can you add the source and destination CRC32 checksums for each patch to the patch filename? e.g 'TLBT v1.1_C7A78A3E_to_CE27BE97.xdelta'

    Just to avoid confusion.

    1. Yes. We're working on fixing them still but there will be an update soon.

  16. Thank you so much for translating this! I actually tried putting Tingle's japanese name at the start thinking it'd do the same thing as the rosy rupeeland game only for you guys to have changed that as well somehow haha.

Question: Do you think you might localize some of the names at some point or just keep it as it is? Like Kakashi and Buriki, which I'm assuming is supposed to be Brick?

    1. We made the decision early on to keep the Japanese names for the main cast. A lot of the fans knew them under those names already, and it felt like the right thing to leave them in.
"Buriki" actually means "tin (plate)" in Japanese :D

  17. Thanks so much for translating this! Rosy Rupeeland became one of my all-time favourite games, and since then Tingle is also one of my favourite characters. Greetings from Spain :)

  18. Hey I'm having trouble just downloading the file, I think im doing something wrong.

  19. Great job! I just finished the game, and was really impressed with your work.

There were a few untranslated lines I thought I'd mention to you:
    1) Azusa during the first gift segment, when she gets a mediocre gift (2 O's and 1 X), the last bit of her line was untranslated
    2) The vendor in the city, page 12. After he sells you the first item (marble), the next 2 explanations of things he is trying to sell to you are untranslated.
    3) Not untranslated, but the mushroom lady that is shopping at the fruit stand, beginning of page 7, has an unfinished line, something like "I have to get my husband to eat the" (unfinished)

Awesome awesome work. Thank you so much for doing this translation!

  20. i don't have the rom itself...would there happen to be any way to have the patch and the rom bundled together as one thing somehow so i could easily load it on an emulator, or no?

    2. (In response to the deleted reply)

Well firstly, while I can't speak for other translation websites, we've done our best to make it easy to apply our patch. There's a total of two downloads that you need to do for our patch, so I'm not sure where you see "100 different toolkits", unless you were talking about some other fan translation. I'm assuming your talking about other projects also when you say they're catered to "one operating system (PC's usually)". We've provided pretty clear directions for Windows and Mac. I suppose we weren't as clear as we could've been on how to use it on Linux, but if you're using Linux chances are you have the technical skills to figure it out yourself.

To address what you said about the DMCA shutdown -
The reason that we don't host the full ROM is ~not~ because we are afraid of getting our site getting a takedown request. The reason is that we don't want to get in legal trouble. We're not hosting any copyrighted files here. So if nintendo ever desired to take this site down, we would comply and that would be the end of it. If we had the rom up, they could take legal action against us. I don't know about you, but risking going to jail or getting slapped with a fine over a video game sounds pretty stupid.

Anyways sorry if I came off as rude, I promise I didn't mean that :D. I just wanted to clarify things. In short, it's not a "culture of fear", it's an attempt to cover our asses on legal matters as best as we can :D

  21. Hi I found some untranslated text on Page 12 Chapter 1, after I got the Inn Coupon, then I went up to the Toad merchant and there when talking to him it's in Japanece and he is trying to sell me something for 198 ruppes... I think.

  22. Very noob question, and apologies if this was already answered. But is it possible to use the download for an actual, physical copy of the game? I managed to find the original Japanese copies on Amazon and planned to use the English patch on it. Is that by any means possible?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've downloaded it on my phone but it won't appear on Drastic, could anyone help?

    1. Not 100% sure if this is the issue, but the file provided is just a patch file, you will still need to find and patch the ROM in order to use it. Hope that helps :)

  24. Hi, I'm currently having trouble. I am using multipatch on OS X (Mac) and am using the correct patch and I keep having the error message "Patching failed Invalid input. This typically means that the file you selected to patch is not the file your patch is intended for". Could I get any help?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Also I should say that I have tried to use the file that fixes bad rom dumps to no avail

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok this may sound silly but I am a complete newb in this scene. What exactly do you guys mean by ROM? That i should get the actual game cartridge? (for example through amazon)
