Welcome!

This is a blog that we use to post news on our translation of "Ripened Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love". For those who don't know, it is a sequel to Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland. Rupeeland was released in English, but Balloon Trip of Love wasn't.

This is an unofficial fan project. We are in no way affiliated with Nintendo or Vanpool, and are doing this completely for free.

Help Us Out

We need help with:

Text
Quality checker/editor: the game text will have to match the personality and feel of the prequel, the original Japanese, and the characters' personalities. It needs to be consistent. And the text always needs to fit properly on the screen.
If interested, please comment on this page.

Graphics (not needed right now)
Graphics editor: the graphics in the game that contain Japanese text must be edited to replace the Japanese with English. A translation will be provided (if needed). No hacking experience is needed, you will just be sent a .png or .bmp of a graphic with Japanese on it to edit.
If you can also able and willing to hack graphics as well as edit them, please mention that as well.
If interested, please email TingleFan Kooloo~lim~pah with the subject "TBTOL Graphics".

  1. I've played a large portion of the game a couple years back and have a few years of Japanese experience with a good understanding of the personality of the text, and editing and fansubbing experience, and I'm willing to check the translation, edit, or help with the translation. JLPT level 3. Let me know at enjoievan@gmail.com.

    1. That's awesome! I'm between JLPT levels N3 and N4 myself; the text is definitely doable at that level. Will shoot you an e-mail.

  2. Hello,
how many japanese characters are there to translate? I'm asking because there is this guy, Felix Wagner, who did a really gorgeous translation of Tingle's Rosy Rupee Land, he did the German translation, but maybe he could also help with the English one of Balloon Trip of Love? This is his website: http://www.felixwagner.net

(I'd think about paying him, but I don't know what 0.09€ per character sign would finally amount to)

    1. I don't know how many characters there are, but there are over 13,000 lines of text. So if each line had only 1 character (each line has at least 6-7 probably and some contain 30+) it would be over 1000.00€. So it would probably be over 10000€ to pay him, and I don't think we could raise that much money.

Thanks for the suggestion though :) !

  3. Regarding translation, has all of the in-game text been dumped into an excel file or are you guys translating as you play through the game?

  4. The original text dump is available in one giant text file, which we split up per chapter (more or less) and work on in one of those online collaborative text editors.

    1. Well it's been a while since you posted this, but I've just noticed there's been a few comments in the Help Us Out section that have gone unoticed by me. So if you're reading this:

The entire team thanks you for your generosity and appreciates your support. Unfortunately, game developers aren't always enthusiastic about fan translations of their games. They get even more upset if money is being collected from the translations, and it'd be really bad if we got slapped with a C&D from Nintendo or Vanpool :(

So yeah, unfortunately at this time we do not plan to accept any form of monetary compensation for our work. We really appreciate the offer, but the best way to support us is to keep posting encouraging words! And of course, playing the patch when it comes out.

    1. Yes, actually I was planning on making a post soon about that :)
Right now we need someone who can edit graphics from Japanese into English. Essentially, this means you have to be able to take an image with Japanese on it, remove said Japanese, and replace it with English, making it as similar as possible. This means either finding or making a font that resembles the original, or for some redrawing it to look like the original.
I'm assuming you don't know Japanese, so you would be provided with a translation as well (if that is indeed the case)
Anyways, since it appears you've somehow read my mind, I'll give you the first shot before I post anything. Just send me an email if you're interested and we can discuss it further.

Unless of course you mean something else by saying "stylisitic stuff", then you can just ignore me :D
